Mel, I am so sorry for the passing of your best friend and love in life - he was a very special man xoxo. His smile is etched in my brain for ever. Both of you were so very kind, to not just me but to my parents, especially my mom, Vicki Golder. They were bonded in friendship from the first time they met in 1965. Colonial Flowers soon became both of our favourite florist, having done my wedding flowers and Mom and Dad's 40th Anniversary flowers and so much in-between. May his memories be your comfort in the days, weeks and years to come.
Hugs Mel xoxo

My deepest condolences to you Mel on the passing of Garnet Downs. I was born and raised on Craig Street across the road from the Downs home so I have known Garnet all my life. He was always the first one we called when we needed flowers for any occasion. He always had such beautiful flowers. He will be missed.

Our deepest condolences Mel. I’ve known Garnie all my life, Colonial Flowers was always our go to place while growing up. Having lived on Craig Street for the last 38 years our daughter also had the pleasure of getting to know yourself and Garnie and loved to drop in for a visit on her way home from Alexander Reid school. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

My deepest sympathy Mel on the passing of Garnet.
My thoughts and prayer are with you in the coming days.
I will never forget the kindness shown to me and Larry back in 1967 when we got married. Garny ( & Mel) as we called him did our wedding flowers and my wedding bouquet. Garny (& Mel) took/drove my bouquet to Clayton, New York to give to my sister in law--Sister Barbara Hebert to put on the church altar. Then for the following 5 years made me my identical bouquet. That is one of the many memories I have of this gifted man. Arnprior was blessed to have Colonial Florist serve us for so many years.
R.I.P. Garny.

Mel, Beth and I join in the grief which is being felt by many people in the community today. Garnet was a special person who was always upbeat and willing to help in community projects. Living on Craig Street, if anything, enhanced our respect
for him.
Garnet never hesitated to help a neighbour, offer advice on gardening and many other things. We will miss him.
