Obituary of Mac McCallum

December 11,1936 January 20, 2025

 

“I’ve had a good life…I’ve done what I wanted to do and the way I wanted to do it…. I’m ready to go”

 

Mac passed away peacefully with family by his side at Groves Park Lodge, Renfrew on Monday evening, January 20, 2025 at the age of 88 years.

Beloved husband of the late Genny (nee Hunt).

Loved father of Stuart (and wife Marie) and Peggy Sue Pultz (and her husband Gary).

Loved Grandpa of Krystal Haselhan (Mitch), Jamie Lynn Jaakkola (Darryl), Kelly Nixon (Greg) and Jonathan Pultz (Diane Wright)

and Great-Grandpa of Isabella, Liam, Olivia, Daniel, Clara, Jorja, Annaka, Thomas, Lilian, Isla and Lukas.

Dear brother of Leo McCallum (Anna).

Predeceased by 3 brothers: D.J McCallum (late Grace), Glen McCallum (Faith) and Delmer McCallum as well as his only sister, Noreen McGregor (late Steve).

Mac is also survived and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, a cousin, Billy Kiley as well as many wonderful friends.

 

Mac was a proud and dedicated member of the Renfrew County Fiddlers for many years.

He and his friends volunteered countless hours entertaining weekly at each of the local seniors homes, the Renfrew Hospital and wherever else they were invited to play.

 

Sincere thanks to the staff at Groves Park Lodge for the care and compassion shown to Mac since his arrival there in 2018.

Special mention to Gerry Letang and Larry Dougherty for being such caring and loyal friends over the years. Mac was blessed to have them both in his life.

Finally, the family wish to thank Margaret Sul McEachen and her beautiful family who have stood by and lovingly supported Dad not only the last couple weeks but over the past many years.

 

Family and friends are invited to a musical celebration of Mac’s life to be held in Lochwinnoch Presbyterian Church, 946 Lochwinnoch Road, Renfrew on Saturday morning, January 25th at 11 o’clock followed by a luncheon and an opportunity to meet with the family.

 

The Service will be recorded and uploaded to the Pilon Family site on Saturday afternoon for those unable to attend.

In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to Lochwinnoch Presbyterian Church or Groves Park Lodge.
