My sincere condolences to Susan's family and close friends. When I started in Grade 1, Westmeath Public School (WPS), Susan was already in grade 7, and so I didn't know her very well, but my older siblings, and cousins did know her quite well, and she was very well-liked, as were all members of the O'Brien family, including many cousins. I do recall the fun and excitement of playing soccer and other sporting activities and games during recess, when students of different grades (1 to 8) would play together. It was like having a very large extended family. For a brief time, Susan's younger sister Kathryn did attend WPS for a few years before they moved away from Westmeath. Susan's sudden passing is very sad and tragic.

Dear Cassidy and Logan,
My sincere condolences to you and your family - I only had the pleasure of working with your Mom for a short time. We would have great chats in the morning about growing up and working on our family's farms. We enjoyed the cows but more importantly horses. She was a lovely person and I will miss her. I hope you will find comfort in the memories that you have shared. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to Susan's beautiful family and loved ones. I had the privilege to know Susan, firstly as an inspiring colleague and professional mentor at MHCC and then through a loving friendship over 7 years. She truly was an amazing woman, shining her bright and encouraging wisdom wherever she went. I'm so grateful for the laughs and heartfelt conversations we shared over granola cookies at Bridgehead and waterside walks. You will be sorely missed. Thank you all for all the uplifting advice, most recently on motherhood, of which, all that knew you, know you fiercely excelled at. Much love and hugs from Aylmer, Cléo

Beautiful inside and out, Susan was a colleague and friend. Her love for her children was apparent in our conversations and I’m so deeply sorry for their loss. Susan’s smile would light up the room or a Teams call and her career growth was amazing to witness. Susan supported me and many others with challenging Human Resources issues at the Mental Health Commission of Canada and I could always count on her. I am so grateful to have known Susan and I send my deepest condolences to her family and friends. I added a photo when Sean McCann visited the MHCC office and Susan and I were both giddy to get our photos taken with him!

To say I was shocked to hear this news would be an understatement. For almost 7 years I had the pleasure of working with Susan. As we got to know one another we discovered we had attended U of G together, had kids of similar ages an interests and shared a love of all things horse related. She was a kind and gentle person and was one my fellow co-workers who also became a friend. She will be missed and to her family I cannot imagine how you must be feeling but please know we all share in your grief.

Tina and I met Susan at Guelph University. We were cheerleaders together and we also lived together over one summer in Guelph. The three of us became fast friends and shared many happy times together. We were young, full of excitement and very social and outgoing. We laughed, danced and dated and danced some more and laughed some more. We spent many times sharing silly stories that one does in their early 20s. Susan (known as Roslyn at the time) was always a true friend. She had a positive nature, an open heart, and her winning smile was genuinely infectious. She will be dearly remembered. Our hearts go out to her family and friends in Arnprior. Catherine Manschot and Tina McGrath

The loss of Susan so young and suddenly is unimaginable and tragic. She gave my young family a chance to be the caretakers of her beautiful home during a hard time for us and in turn gave us a chance to grow. Susan was one of the most kind-hearted souls I have ever come across in my life and was always happy to help wherever she could. She was an amazing landlord, but an even more amazing friend and human being. Our love, thoughts and prayers go out to Logan, Cassidy, and everyone in Susan's life circle over this unthinkable loss. Though she may be gone from this Earth, love and empathy that Susan showed us all will live on in her memory forever. Thank you for everything you did Susan, we will be forever grateful for who you were.
