Obituary of Sheila Sullivan
With great sadness the family announces that following a brief illness, Sheila passed away at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Christmas Eve morning, Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
She was surrounded by the love of family at the time of her passing.
Sheila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and proud great-grandmother.
Professionally she was first, last and forever a nurse. Caring for others and about others was her life purpose.
Born in Toronto, Sheila graduated from St. Joseph’s Nursing School, then worked as a Registered Nurse at Toronto hospitals St. Joseph’s, St. Michael’s, in Emergency at the Addiction Research Foundation, and St. Elizabeth’s District Nurses. Moving with the family back to Arnprior, she worked with Renfrew District Visiting Homemakers, then again for years as an RN at Bonnechere Manor and Arnprior’s Grove and latterly as an assistant with the law office Sullivan O’Connell LLP.
Sheila is survived by her husband Don; daughters Stephanie Paquette (Eric) and Noreen Sullivan; grandchildren Alicia Quan, Sullivan Van Loon (Brianna), Zachary Van Loon (Brooke), Shauna Sullivan, Brianna Van Loon; brother Paul Murphy (Helen); sister Mary Ellen Hydeman (Wayne); brothers-in-law Bernie Sullivan (Bernice) and Ken Sullivan (Nancy); nephew Michael Murphy of Iqaluit and niece Suzanne Murphy of Toronto; many other nieces and nephews; and our dear friends Hannah O’Connell of Arnprior, Pino and Susie Carnicelli of Toronto, Greg Townley of Arnprior, and so many others locally that to try to single them out by name would inevitably offend some. Not her style!!! Sheila loved them all and they loved her. That will not fade.
The family express their deep gratitude to doctors Rob Boersma and Cathy Greenough. Their care and grace inspires and comforts us.
