I was enthralled with Judy's garden, the quiet neighbour down the street from Keepers held some kind of botanical magic. Each time I walked by with my husband and doggy, she was nestled in the branches with a laser focus. I am a gardening enthusiast and her species and their placement were unlike any other garden I had seen. Judy came into my plant shop a few times and she showed me her award winning arrangements through her photography. Her eye and skill reminded me of the fine art and design I studied up North. She was captivating.
I will never forget the small tour she gave me of her tulips, in the Spring. We were so glad to see blooms and I instantly knew that Judy had so much to teach, but reserved her stories and knowledge for only those who were very eager to ask. Judy was beautiful, humble, generous, kind, open, spirited and ageless. She helped teach me the meaning of community with so few words. What a star. I will forever regret not spending more time hearing her stories but will continue to enjoy learning about such a complex, talented, thoughtful woman.

We will miss Judy dearly and will always cherish our great times together with not just her but the entire McGrath family. We will also miss the hunt camp and maple syrup dinners we shared. Judy and John were a very important part of the David family for many years and we will remember them forever.

I met Judy by chance while photographing in Newfoundland in 1971. She opened her heart and life to me and changed mine, getting me to Taloyoak to document the community and a year later enabling me to teach photo skills to Inuit women.
Judy as I knew her was a force not to be stopped. She personified the mantra of that era - "Just Do It". She was kind, loving, funny, endlessly energetic but also wry about the challenges of making things happen in the face of endless problems both physical and bureaucratic.
In Taloyoak she was a learner--going ice fishing, exploring traditional ways of working and later linking these to what she could offer--all of which developed into the women's craft project and tremendous artistic output and an economic base for Taloyoak crafts women. I'm so thankful to have seen Judy in Arnprior in her beloved garden. She leaves a hole in our hearts.

Sending sincere condolences to Lani and all of Judy’s family. I was sad to hear of her passing, but super glad I had so many years of her friendship. She shared her love of flowers, design and gardening with her many friends at Pakenham Hort. I will miss her greatly, but I know you all have so many treasured memories to comfort you.

There are people in your life who have probably only been in your company a handful of times, but you wish they had been your next door neighbor. To us, Judy was one of those people. A truly dear Lady.
