„Mit allen seinen Tiefen, seinen Höhen rollt sich das Leben ab vor deinem Blick
Wenn du das große Spiel der Welt gesehen, kehrst du reicher in dich selbst zurück.“
“With all its lows and highs life rolls down in front of you
When you have seen the big play of the world, you return richer to yourself.”
Inscription on the theatre of the city of Duisburg, Germany
Ingrid had to learn this inscription by heart in school when she grew up in Duisburg, Germany and still remembered it all the years later when she visited Germany. When her sister Anne told us this story, Sebastian liked those lines so much that he also memorised it by heart. It is the first memory we connect to Ingrid.
When Ingrid heard that we were big hockey fans she started sending us shirts of our favourite players across the Atlantic and we sent Spekulatius cookies back to her. Although we sadly never met each other in person we developed a special pen friendship to Ingrid over the years.
We will always remember Ingrid as a wonderful kind-hearted friend and send our deepest condolences to her loved ones. We will miss you Ingrid, may you rest in peace.
Love Uta and Sebastian from Germany
