Have such good memories of his great sense of humour and fun. We remember him dressed as the Cookie Monster at an Optimist event at the rink. The kids loved him and he was truly enjoying himself.
He was certainly a part of the Baird household for many years.
Our best wishes to his family.

So sorry to hear of Butch's passing. I remember Butch and my older brother Ted and the rest of the Third Avenue lads carrying on and laughing and telling stories of their late night outings. I never really knew what they were up to as I was just a kid back then, but I am sure they had fun from what I could tell. Butch always had a smile and a friendly "hello" whenever he saw you on Third Avenue. He always had a nice nice car parked in front the house on Third. We grew up across the the street from the McCuaig homestead. Sending heartfelt condolences to the entire family.

To the McQuaig Clan in the Valley, our sincere condolences to you all. Was sad hearing the loss of one of my idols from days of youth. Butch was a definite influence to all his cousins visiting Third Ave gatherings in the "Prior". His laugh that shook his whole body and smile were infectious from the moment you saw him. Our introduction to Molson Canadian(s) at the park along the river, the island under the bridge into town, in the truck while waiting for some chips at Wes's, the little bar at the Legion and on the odd Saturday, at the Madawaska Hotel drinking $.25 drafts (Molson's of course) are memories his cousins cherish, with him. We loved him! Upon reflection it is true in later years we only saw each other at Weddings and Funerals. Glad for the talks with Heather, Jack and Harris this week. Will miss your presence Butch, here in our earthly world. RIP. You are home with family now, gathered at the gates to welcome you. Hugs to all from the Belleville Shaw clan. It was a privilege being in your circle in the Valley. Cheers Cousin!!

Dear Murray,
I feel so fortunate to have gotten close to Robbie over this past year. His viewpoint and sense of humor will be fondly remembered.
I'll cherish the memory, Murray that you left with me with regards to the dog. "Murphy watched him being taken out on gurney, until he could see him no more"

Nora, Heather,Jack and Harris,
Sorry to hear of the passing of "Butch". Got to know "Butch", and the rest of you folks around 1954 when we moved down from Renfrew to begin grade 2.(used to cut through your back yard to get to school). Lots of time spent playing football and softball on "Playtex Field", and many hikes to the snye (Marshall's Bay) with the rest of the "avenues crew". Colleen worked at Baird's Restaurant with "Butch around 1971, and shared many laughs with him. He was a real morale booster and great story teller.

I was one of the lucky cousins who got to spend time with ‘Butch’ when I was a young lad growing up. The ladies loved him... this good looking valley lad, with an amazing warm personality, embarrassing the heck out of me, a wet behind the ears kid from the city, too shy to even speak to a girl!
And now, looking back, I am very much like him... I can talk to anyone (just ask my poor wife, putting up we me for 46 years). And I have his kindness. He was a true ‘Prior lad, an amazing role model for me back in the late ‘60’s. He gave me confidence. And now I have many, many memories of him to cherish.
I’ve called all his siblings to pass on my condolences. The McCuaigs and Shaws are a wonderful family to be a part of; I’m glad they included me.
And thanks Butch!
